Smarter Than The Average Bear?

When I took the SATs in high school my results were: Verbal-580, Math-570. I told all my friends my total score was 1050.

It wasn't until YEARS later that I realized my score was actually 1150.

I took a career test once. Scores were calculated immediately after the exam and my results were: I'm capable of any career choice. Upon learning this I went up to the test administrator and asked for an explanation. He looked down at my score, looked back up at me and said "you can be anything you want to be." I took the test to find a specific career choice and I was told I could do anything I wanted with my life and I'd be good at it! (Lame, right?) I left the room feeling very confused and decided I either took the test wrong or the whole thing was a sham.

It wasn't until MUCH later that I sat, reflected and realized "I can be anything I want to be."

I often wonder if I deserve those test results...

  1. That's a wonderful thing to be told! But I related more to your initial reaction--that's a very frustrating and (at least, in my case) overwhelming situation. The words of my viola teacher always echo in my head:

"A jack of all trades is a master of none."

Some days I'm thankful he said that, other days I want to kick him...
